Dance at Roger`s

The Chapter Dance at Roger`s opens with description of Roger`s house. The writes about the design of the hall, then we learn about the guests and about Francie, Roger`s daughter, who made the preparations for the dance. Roger himself did not like the idea of the evening at their house, but, when the dance began, he enjoyed himself. By eight o`clock Soames and Irene arrived, but he was left alone, as Irene was dancing with others. Here the author pays special attention to her appearance, her manners, the envy of others to her popularity. It gives Soames much to consider about her attitude to him, their relationship. But he noticed Old Jolyon and June`s arrival. On seeing Bossiney and Irene together, june could not restrain her feelings, because she came with an intention to win Bossiney back, but she failed.
